Selective Catalytic Reduction

Selective catalytic reduction can be used to reduce the concentration of harmful nitrogen oxides being emitted from car exhaust pipes

In this simulation, the concentration of NOx is reduced significantly in a car exhaust pipe by selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Urea solution injected into the exhaust pipe converts harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) into nitrogen and water.

Simulation of SCR uses a coupled multiphysics model involving chemical reactions, heat transfer, multi-phase fluid flow and transport of species. All these physical phenomena are tightly coupled with each other and cannot be modeled in isolation.

This simulation was done in COMSOL — a pioneering FEA software for multiphysics simulations. We are COMSOL certified consultants, i.e. COMSOL certifies our experience and expertise as providers of turnkey modeling & simulation solutions using COMSOL.
