Fixed Point Theorems
Proofs of various fixed point theorems, and applications.
30 Apr 2014 to 2 Jul 2014
If we crumple a table cloth laid on a table, no matter how badly we do it, it can be proved that at least one point on the tablecloth is exactly where it was before! The above is only one among a large class of “fixed point” theorems. These cute but seemingly innocuous theorems have a surprisingly fundamental role to play in many fields including linear and non-linear dynamics, differential equations, economics and game theory.
