Electrodeposition is widely used in all industries to apply paint, primer and other coatings on electrically conductive surfaces.
As seen in the picture above, a single electrode (left) gives a very uneven coat to a wheel hub, while two electrodes (right) cause a much more uniform deposition. Simulation is used to predict the coating thickness profile, so as to optimize the location and size of electrodes, the geometry of the components, and process parameters to achieve a uniform coat of the required thickness.
